This year, we are proud to welcome 14 tenured/tenure-track faculty, 26 non-tenure-track faculty, including Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellows and new cadre members in our ROTC programs, 10 research faculty, and three visiting faculty.

Mandarin Remix: Georgia Tech Researcher Finds Chinese Rap is Defying Linguistic Tradition

Chinese rap is straying further from standard Mandarin and using more English, according to Associate Professor Jin Liu in the School of Modern Languages. She worked with students in the College of Computing to create computational tools to uncover the trends.

Dean Search Begins for Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts

Georgia Tech will begin the search for the next dean of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts. The search committee, chaired by Dean of Libraries Leslie Sharp, was chosen through a nomination process and includes a mix of faculty, staff, students, and alumni from within the college, as well as other units from across campus.

Boulard Named Knight of the Order of Academic Palms

Stéphanie Boulard, a professor of French in the School of Modern Languages, has been awarded the rank of Chevalier (Knight) of the French Order of Academic Palms by the Consul General of France in Atlanta, Anne-Laure Desjonquères. The rank is one of France's highest civilian honors.

Paul Alonso Awarded Fulbright to Conduct Research and Teach in Peru
March 26, 2024
Paul Alonso, an associate professor in the School of Modern Languages, has studied how political humorists and comedians use media platforms to push social boundaries, make us question what we think we know, and speak truth to power. A Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award will take Alonso to Peru, where he will conduct new research and teach a seminar at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru in Lima.

Richard Utz Named Interim Dean of Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts

Richard Utz, senior associate dean and professor, has been appointed interim dean of Georgia Tech’s Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, effective April 20. Dean Husbands Fealing, who served in that role since 2020, has been appointed assistant director of the National Science Foundation Directorate for Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences.
