1. What was your final project for your Global Media and Cultures degree?
My final project was titled "A Multidimensional Expansion of Intercultural and Creative Competencies." It consisted of a bilingual, visually robust blog and a three-month internship at the Consulate General of Belgium in Atlanta. Its purpose was to prepare me for a career in cultural media and design by the end of the summer.
2. What do you do now?
I support Georgia Tech's outreach and recruitment efforts for undergraduate students interested in studying abroad at Georgia Tech-Europe in Metz, France. My duties include managing social media, creating graphics, delivering presentations, attending study abroad fairs, and organizing events.
3. What's the coolest part of your job?
The coolest part of my job is creating a welcoming atmosphere and space for students to feel confident and ready for their first adventures abroad, whether by relating to students via social media or coordinating community-building events each semester with tons of croissants!!
4. Why are you passionate about it?
I'm passionate about what I do because I wholeheartedly believe that studying abroad and spending time in another country can teach you so much. My own experiences are a testament to this. I want to help others going through the same process and break down any fears or apprehensions they might face along the way so they can have these awesome experiences, too.
5. Which skills from your IAC degree have helped you be successful in this career?
The three key skills from college that have helped me succeed in my current role are communication, design, and creativity. I rely on them every day, using them together to ensure that my work is enjoyable and high quality. Ultimately, these skills enable me to present Georgia Tech-Europe as an educative, global, and exciting place for students, parents, and partners alike.
6. What's your #1 tip for students and alumni interested in your field?
Take advantage of any opportunity to study abroad or participate in an international exchange – almost everyone in my field of work has experienced this.
