Description

The Salud in Spain program offers a unique and virtual approach to summer study abroad. By combining language immersion methods, conversation exchanges, guest speakers, interview projects, and cultural activities, this Global at Home program promises to take your Spanish skills and intercultural competence to new levels.

Salud in Spain is designed for pre-medicine and pre-health students with intermediate to advanced Spanish skills. This program is ideal for students majoring in Spanish (ALIS, IAML, and GEML degrees) or in biochemistry, biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, chemical and biomolecular engineering, neuroscience, psychology, or public policy. It is also perfect for students minoring in Spanish; international affairs; health and medical sciences; health, medicine, and society; or science, technology, and society. ALIS, IAML, and GEML majors in the Spanish concentration as well as Spanish minors can earn 6, 9, or 12 upper-level Spanish credits.

The Salud in Spain program offers options for 3, 6, 9, or 12 credits as follows:

  • 3 credit option: Students take SPAN 4251 (internship) or SPAN 4699 (research) in full or late summer.
  • 6 credit option: Students take SPAN 3697 and 3698 in early summer.
  • 9 credit option: Students take SPAN 3697 and 3698 in early summer and either SPAN 4251 (internship) or SPAN 4699 (research) in late summer.
  • 12 credit option: Students take SPAN 3697 and 3698 in early summer and SPAN 4251 (internship) and SPAN 4699 (research) in late summer.

The Salud in Spain program is a Georgia Tech faculty-led program, which means all classes are Georgia Tech courses and you do not have to worry about transfer credit. You can even go abroad in your last semester at Georgia Tech.

The cost is very affordable. Plus, if you are an out-of-state student, you pay in-state tuition for your classes.
