ALIS Master’s Student Presents at Graduate Conference

Mary Kathryn Tippett, a Master's student studying Applied Languages and Intercultural Studies (ALIS)-French in the School of Modern Languages, presented her paper “The rise of Homophobia in 21st Century Francophone Africa” at the 11th Annual Romance Languages & Literatures Graduate Conference hosted by the University of Buffalo on April 9, 2022.

In the paper, Tippett analyzes the recent trend of LGBTQ asylum seekers and refugees fleeing their homes in French-speaking Africa due to religious and legal backlash.
