1. What do you do?
I'm a consultant in Deloitte's Tax and Legal department in Germany, working on a coordination team within Global Employer Services. We specialize in tax return services for individuals working across multiple countries around the world. My role involves coordinating with teams across different regions to ensure smooth service delivery and compliance. It's a role that requires constant communication and collaboration on a global scale.
2. What’s the coolest part of your job?
The variety of the work. Every single day brings something completely new and unexpected. I might be coordinating with a team in Asia one moment and then pivoting to handle a European tax requirement the next, so I genuinely never know which country or cultural context I'll be working in. Beyond that, I love how interdisciplinary the work is. I'm constantly developing new skills and drawing on different expertise. The best part is knowing that my work actually touches people's lives in a meaningful way across the world.
3. Why are you passionate about it?
I've always been driven to understand the dynamics of our world: the cultures, the people, and the structures. This job lets me live that passion every day by working with people from around the world and experiencing different communication styles and perspectives firsthand. What really energizes me is realizing how deeply interconnected we all are despite our differences. It reinforces my belief that meaningful work comes from bridging those gaps and truly understanding one another.
4. Which skills from your IAC degree have helped you be successful in this career?
My background in global economics and modern languages from IAC was almost perfectly tailored for this role. The language program gave me cultural training that helps me understand nuances others might miss, while my economics foundation gave me a solid framework for analyzing the complex problems I encounter daily. Together, they've been invaluable in navigating such a globally interconnected field.
5. What’s your #1 tip for students and alumni interested in your field?
Ask questions, find connections, and remain genuinely open to opportunities, as you never know when or where the right moment will appear.
