Overview
Lt Col Kelly M Sharbel III is the Commander of Air Force ROTC Detachment 165, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA. Additionally, he serves as the Professor of Aerospace Studies and leads a team responsible for recruiting, educating, and preparing officer candidates to commission as leaders in the United States Air and Space Forces.
Lt Col Sharbel entered the Air Force in May 2007 through ROTC from James Madison University through Detachment 890 at the University of Virginia. He earned his BS from James Madison University, and his MS from Air University.
As an Air Force officer, Lt Col Sharbel is holds ratings as a Navigator and a Senior Pilot with more than 1,954 combat hours. Lt Col Sharbel has 16 years of service, and has flown operational missions in support of NORTHCOM, SOUTHCOM, EUCOM, CENTCOM, and INDOPACOM. Prior to his current position, Lt Col Sharbel was the Director of Operations for the 461st Operations Support Squadron, leading Wing and Group programs to ensure E-8C JSTARS support of multiple combatant commands.
