Overview
Tia Williams is an Academic Program Manager I in the School of Modern Languages at the Georgia Institute of Technology. With more than 20 years of experience in the University System of Georgia, including leadership and administrative roles at both Georgia State University and Georgia Tech, she brings extensive expertise in academic operations, program management, student services, and higher education administration.
In her current role, Tia oversees key aspects of undergraduate program operations, including academic advising, curriculum and degree audit support, and the management of student records and academic processes. She is also responsible for coordinating the department's classroom scheduling, working closely with faculty, department leadership, and the Registrar's Office to optimize instructional space, develop course schedules, and ensure compliance with institutional scheduling policies.
Prior to joining the School of Modern Languages, Tia served as Academic Program Coordinator I in Georgia Tech's School of Materials Science and Engineering. In addition to managing departmental operations and supporting academic initiatives, she served as a GT 1000 Instructor, where she taught first-year students and helped them successfully transition to the Georgia Tech community by fostering academic success, campus engagement, and personal development.
Before joining Georgia Tech, Tia held several positions at Georgia State University within the College of Arts and Sciences, including scheduler and academic coordinator for the Departments of Psychology and Geosciences. In these roles, she directed course scheduling operations, supported academic advising, coordinated departmental events, managed budgets, and provided comprehensive administrative support to faculty, staff, and students.
Tia earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Georgia State University and a Master of Business Administration from Clayton State University.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Tia enjoys reading, traveling, listening to music, and spending quality time with her family.
