Get ready to turn your summer into the ultimate Korean adventure! Dive into the Korean government-funded, Georgia Tech faculty-led program: FEEL THE KOREAN BEAT! – a thrilling 5-week journey (June 8 – July 10) that blends K-Pop, culture, history, food, fashion, and Jeju island paradise while earning 6 HUM credits.

Immerse yourself in Korea’s vibrant street fashion and K-beauty scene and hone your culinary skills through hands-on Korean cooking classes at Namseoul University, where you’ll also join the K-pop Dance Club alongside local students. The adventure culminates at the world-renowned Jindo National Gugak Center, where you’ll master the heart-pounding rhythms of Samulnori, Korea’s iconic percussion music. 

Best of all, members of the Georgia Tech Samulnori Club are eligible to receive a $500 scholarship.

Location

Week 1 (June 8–12) – Seoul Kick off with a K-Pop Demon Hunters Pilgrimage!

  • Authentic K-Pop pilgrimage to filming locations from K-Pop Demon Hunters (Jamsil Olympic Stadium, COEX K-Pop Square, Bukchon Hanok Village, and more)
  • Exclusive tours of top Seoul entertainment agencies
  • First taste of Seoul’s street fashion, cafés, and night markets
  • Visits to historical sites directly connected to your KOR 3410 coursework

Week 2 (June 15–19) – Cheonan/Daejeon Stay at Namseoul University and live like a local!

  • Train in authentic K-Pop choreography with Namseoul’s official K-Pop Dance Club
  • Join a full-scale K-Pop festival
  • Master Korean cooking in hands-on K-Food classes
  • Discover your perfect look with personal color analysis and Korean-style makeup & K-Beauty experiences
  • Relax at outdoor hot springs and more

Week 3 (June 22–26) – Jeju Island Stay at a luxurious townhouse and escape to “Korea’s Hawaii” for paradise and adventure:

  • Hike volcanic trails and stunning nature
  • Snorkel and surf in crystal waters
  • Visit famous cafés and scenic attractions
  • Pay respects at Jeju 4.3 Peace Park
  • Savor unique Jeju-style K-Food and black pork BBQ

Weeks 4–5 (June 29–July 10) – Jindo Island Stay at a dormitory here and cap off the journey at the world-renowned Jindo National Gugak Center! Immerse yourself in Korea’s traditional performing arts and master the heart-pounding rhythms of Samulnori (Korean percussion ensemble) in an intensive, unforgettable finale.

This isn’t just a study abroad program; it’s your chance to live the Hallyu Wave. Dance like your favorite idols, cook like a Korean chef, surf Jeju’s waves, and drum the ancient beats of Samulnori, all while earning credits and making lifelong memories.

  • KOR 3410 (3 credits)
  • ML 2500 (3 credits)

Total: 6 credits (both courses fulfill the Georgia Tech Humanities requirement)

Prerequisites

Students who have never taken any Korean (KOR) courses, except for English-taught courses (KOR 34xx), are eligible.

Cost

  • The program fee is $2,000.
  • The program fee does not cover tuition for 6 credit hours or round-trip airfare.

Application and Payment Deadlines

  • Apply via Atlas by Feb. 15.
  • A $500 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of application and is applied to the overall program fee.
  • The first half of the program fee is due Feb. 15 and the balance is due March 15. Payments are withdrawn directly from the student's OSCAR accounts on the deadline.

Fee Payment Information: Please adhere to the deadlines stated for the program. Please observe the information in Payment Options to ensure that your payments are processed at the Bursar’s Office on time. Fees will be charged to your Oscar account on the due dates. Make sure you make all necessary payments on time in order to avoid a hold on your account. Students expecting financial aid must submit a letter from the Financial Aid Office stating the allocation and date of payments expected. Tuition and student fees are due according to the Registrar’s schedule for summer tuition.

Scholarships

Cancellation Policy

Students who cancel their participation in the program after being accepted will be subject to the following non-negotiable fee schedule:

  • Students canceling before Jan. 15 will lose their $500 deposit.
  • Students canceling after Jan. 15 must pay 25% of the program fee.
  • Students canceling after Feb. 15 must pay 50% of the program fee.
  • Students canceling after March 15 must pay 100% of the program fee.

Program descriptions and fees are subject to final approval by educational units and the Office of International Education. Georgia Tech reserves the right to alter or cancel this program due to low enrollment, unavailability of a professor to teach a planned course or other unforeseen circumstances. Once Georgia Tech has made payments to service providers, or if Georgia Tech cancels the program before departure or while the program is in progress for reasons beyond its control, such as political unrest or danger to participants' safety, only those fees that Georgia Tech is able to have refunded by service providers will be returned to participants.
