Chinese Day: Chinese Dance Workshop

The 2023 Chinese Day at Georgia Tech features an interactive Chinese dance performance.

The two-hour event mingles demo performances of classical and ethnic dance, introduction of the cultural symbols in Chinese dance, and teaching of main techniques such as shuixiu (water sleeves) and jianwu (sword dance). Snacks will be provided.

The artist and dancer Ying Xu received her MFA in Modern Dance Performance and Choreography from the Case Western Reserve University and her B.A. from the Beijing Dance Academy with a focus on Chinese dance performance and education. Xu has received the prestigious Henry Kurth Dance Award and the Eva L. Pancoast Dance Award in the United States. She has also taught dance at Penn State University, Coker University, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is currently the director of the I Know Dance Center in Dallas, Texas.
