Lecturer of French & Persian
Roya Mesbah holds a PhD in French Literature and Culture from the Ohio State University. She earned a BA, MA and (ABD) MPhil in French Law and International Law from the Paris Faculty of Law. She worked with French and other European law firms on the litigations that opposed Iranian companies and the western European companies. Upon moving to the US, she earned an MA and a PhD in French Literature and Culture and has taught French language and culture at different American universities since 1994. She has been teaching French and Farsi (Persian) at the Georgia Institute of Technology since 2011.
Some of her interests include critical theory: French thought from Surrealism to Deconstruction, changes of demographics and social discontent in France since the 1980s (PhD dissertation), Islamism and islamophobia in France, the revival of right wing extremism in Europe, the controversial role played by Social Media in the mist of fundamentalist radicalization in Europe, the history of women activism and feminist movements in Iran.
