Earn either 9 credit hours (JAPN 3691: Technical & Scientific Japanese, JAPN 3692: Business Japanese, and JAPN 3693: Japan Today) or 12 credit hours (JAPN 3691: Technical & Scientific Japanese, JAPN 3692: Business Japanese, JAPN 3693: Japan Today, and JAPN 3813: Conversation Practicum) in 2 1/2 months. All these courses are applicable to the International Plan as well as Japanese major, minor, or certificate.
Our host institution is Ritsumeikan University (APU) in Beppu, Oita prefecture. You will live in an off-campus dormitory called AP House 3, which is approximately a 10-minute bus ride from the APU campus. During the program you will have one home-stay weekend and have a weekend home-stay with a Japanese family as well as company/factory/school visits and a weekend field trip to a historic city of Nagasaki. There will also be classes to learn Japanese tea ceremocy and calligraphy. There will be volunteer APU students who will act as your 'buddies' throughout the program. You will have a lot of opportunities to interact with APU students.
